Pup in pipe freed after four hours

COMMUNITY members united to save a pup that crawled into a pipe leading underground and got stuck on Saturday, November 16, 2013. At about 13:45, the alarmed pet owners called Tactical Security to assist when they realised their three-week-old puppy was trapped at their property on Munster Road. Andrew Knibbs responded, and his wife, Jolene Knibbs, sent an alert to Craig Coldron of Bluff Alerts when she realised they needed help digging up the concrete. Community members quickly rallied, bringing angle grinders and getting to work to reach the terrified animal.

Club takes flack after stabbing

HARLEQUINS Sports Club came under fire last week when a fight broke out between suspected gangs at a funfair, but the club maintains it is proactive about security, and parents need to step up. The funfair was disturbed somewhere between 10:00 and 11:00 on Saturday, October 9, when a fight broke out between drunk underaged teens. At least one of them sustained severe injuries after being stabbed with a broken bottle. Locals took to social media and email groups soon after decrying the club for lax security and serving alcohol to minors.

New era for digital shopping

CAXTON and NAB have launched a new online product entitled Dealfinder, allowing consumers to shop for deals by area, retailer, category or brand name. The offering takes the established selling power of printed inserts and runs them digitally, making them searchable, geographically relevant, user-relevant and available to shoppers 24/7.
