In conversation with your Volvo

Volvo Car South Africa has announced the addition of an app-based service, Volvo On Call (VOC), to its local line-up.

The Volvo On Call app will provide owners with the option to remotely check fuel levels, turn on the air conditioning system, even lock and unlock their vehicles via their smartphone, smartwatch, tablet or desktop. The app will also function as a personal assistant by planning the fastest routes to appointments and even recommend restaurants based on its ratings. Some of the safety features include the app notifying the owner that the vehicle is still unlocked and in the unfortunate event of a car accident will automatically contact emergency services and notify them of your location.

The application is filled with features to ensure convenience to the vehicle owner and will even help the owner locate the vehicle with the ability to send a detailed map and directions to the vehicle from the owner’s location and will hoot or flash the indicator lights on demand. In addition to the abovementioned functionality, the new hardware fitted to vehicles will allow for in-car WiFi hotspot which can be used by occupants for endless entertainment.

The new technology will be added as a standard feature to the local line-up from 2020. The service will be free of charge for five years after which it will demand a small fee should you want to continue the service.
