Get on board and row for charity

All proceeds go to charity and one of this year’s beneficiaries is the Elders’ Voice.

Here’s your chance to gather your mates, build a raft, sail down the Umkomaas River – and raise much-needed funds for local charities. Hoodlums Motorcycle Club hosts the fifth annual Charity Umkomaas River Tube and Raft Race on 16 March, starting from the ski-boat club.

Gates open at 8am with the race off at 11am. A trophy is up for grabs for best team spirit, and there will be lots of entertainment for the children, food stalls and a cash bar for the adults.

Local businesses are urged to enter a team. The cost is R500 per raft, with a maximum of six people, and R200 per tube team. There is no charge for spectators to enjoy the fun. All proceeds go to charity and one of this year’s beneficiaries is the Elders’ Voice, that runs 10 houses in Amanzimtoti for destitute elders. Donations to the raft race will be welcomed with open arms by the Hoodlums members.
