You don’t have to put up your property for sale in Southlands to finance another house when looking to invest some cash in the property market. Of course, with sky-high property prices almost everywhere you look, it has become difficult to expand your portfolio further than the house that you are living in.
Surprisingly though, there are still bargains out there, and as shown in a recent article from Private Property, you can even find a house for under R1 million. This wasn’t a once-off though; it was an accumulation of data over the course of April 2018 where they found 10 suburbs that had an average asking price of less than six figures.
This comes as a welcome bit of relief, considering that there have been price hikes almost everywhere you look, from fuel to food. Properties like this have become essential for young professionals that are looking to break into the property market, while also providing an opportunity for those savvy investors who are slowly building up a portfolio.
The lowest price on the list came from Winchester Hills in the south of Johannesburg, with the average price there being just R850 000.
Expensive properties on the list were from Ferndale, which is located nearby Randburg, with the area just sneaking onto the list with the average price of R998 000.
Midrand, which is an area that serves as the link between Johannesburg and Pretoria, had the most suburbs on the list, with three in total – namely Halfway Gardens, Erand Gardens and Noordwyk.
