SATURDAY, 28 OCTOBER: Durban Diocesan Catholic Women’s League fete at St Joseph’s Parish in Florida Road from 8am to 1pm. Call fete convener Eileen Hughes on 072-429-5832.

 

SATURDAY, 28 OCTOBER: Forward Fund NPO hosts a wellness day at Diakonia Centre at 20 Diakonia Avenue in Durban’s CBD from 10am to 2.30pm. Entry is free. There will be talks and activities planned. NPOs are also welcome to have a stand for awareness or fundraising.

 

SATURDAY, 28 OCTOBER: Dutch Reformed Church Fynnland hosts a feté and Christmas market from 8am until noon, at the church hall, 303 Lighthouse Road Bluff. Breakfast will start at 7am. The usual: pancakes, puddings, vetkoek, home baked cakes/bread and lovely handmade crafts will be for sale.

 

MONDAY, 30 OCTOBER: BOTSOC KZN Coastal Branch invites the public to a lunch-time talk at the Durban Botanic Gardens Visitors Centre on at 12.45pm for 1pm. Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife’s principal conservation planner in the biodiversity planning division, Jenny Longmore, will introduce in this talk some of the conservation challenges being experienced in KZN, using case studies. Entrance costs R30 for members, R40 for non-members and R20 for students, which includes tea or coffee on arrival. Pay at the door. Proceeds go to BotSoc branch funds. SATURDAY, 11 NOVEMBER: Diabetes may be the second highest cause of death in South Africa after tuberculosis but people are still in denial. The Durban Wellness Festival takes place on at the Durban Amphitheatre at the Bay of Plenty, with registration open at 10am. The festival officially kicks off at 2pm with the 5km walk and run starting at 4pm. The entire event ends at 6pm with lucky draw spot prizes. It has been created to show people they can make positive, fun changes before it is too late. The 5km walk or the 5km run costs just R60 per person, with all proceeds going to Diabetes SA Durban. The wellness expo is free to the public.
