Speakers will be Roy Bowman, who will talk about ‘The Dam Busters Revisited. Were they successful?’ and the second talk will be given by Capt Charles Ross (SAN) Ret, who will give his presentation of ‘Lt Col Jack Sherwood Kelly VC, CMG, DSO’. SUNDAY, 17 SEPTEMBER – Mountain Backpackers’ Club will take part in the Howick day hike in ‘The Ambers’. Enjoy lovely views and plenty of game and birdlife for this combined hike with other clubs around Howick and surrounding areas. A maximum of 12 members can be accommodated, on a first come first served basis. Last booking will be taken by Wednesday, 13 September.

SUNDAY, 17 SEPTEMBER: The Rhodesia Association of South Africa’s (incorporating the Flame Lily Foundation) annual South Coast Rhodie get-together takes place at Poinsettia Park in Kingsway, Amanzimtoti from 11.30am. This is an open invitation to all Rhodesians – young and old – who would like to join in the fun. Take your own meat and a salad to share. The association will supply the meat for the pensioners and the sadza and gravy. Take your own refreshments.
