SATURDAY, 22 JULY – Mountain Backpackers Club hosts a 9km hike to Kloof Gorge. Meet at Ezemvelo car park in Kloof Falls Road at 8am. Look out for the MBC banner. Call John McGovern on 082-659-5111 between 8am and 1pm. This hike is graded one.

 

SUNDAY, 23 JULY – Camino de Santiago St James’ feast day at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Old Main Road, Kloof starts at 9.30am until 3pm. Blessing of pilgrims, bring and share lunch. SATURDAY, 29 JULY – Brighton Road Community Church (corner of Winchelsea Avenue and Brighton Road, Bluff) encourages all to support its annual fete which runs from 8am to 5pm. Enjoy a day of fun, food, entertainment and goods on sale including fudge, secondhand clothing, cakes, pickles, soaps, curry and rice and much more. SATURDAY, 29 JULY – New Forest Congregational Church hosts a jumble sale from 8am to noon with pre-loved books, clothes and other treasures on sale. There will also be wors rolls, cold drinks and cake available for purchase.

 

SATURDAY, 29 JULY – Mountain Backpackers Club meets at 8.30am at the home at Karkloof number 24, District Road 709, Karkloof. The walk will proceed through the forest to Bushwillow Park, up the steep forest path then along the grasslands and come down by Rockwoods Lodge and Karkloof canopy tours, where there will be a vehicle waiting to transport everyone back home for refreshments. This promises to be a lovely day’s walk in the country with zero cars and tar. Pack a lunch and light jacket.

SATURDAY, 29 JULY – Fynnland Sports Club hosts a band slam from 1pm until late. There will be live music all day with some great bands like DV8, Calamity Jam, Salty Dog and Zisamo playing at night. There will be extra seating, car guards, safe parking on the field with drink specials and food on sale, a jumping castle and play area for the children. Entrance is R20 per person. Children U12 free.
