Get creative with homemade soaps

Try these homemade soaps that are cheap, easy to make and all-natural.

Forget the industrially-produced, store-bought soaps with ingredients you can’t pronounce. These homemade soaps are cheap, easy and all-natural!

The basic recipe for home made soap

The basic recipe for soap is pretty simple (people have been making this stuff for millennia).

You will need:

2.5 cups grass-fed beef tallow
2 cups olive oil
1 cup coconut oil
2,5 cups cold water
3/4 cup lye crystals
1/4 to 1/2 cups essential oil of your choice

Method:

  1. Combine the tallow, olive, and coconut oil in a pot and heat to 40°C.
  2. In a separate pot, pour the lye crystals into the water (not the other way around). Be careful not to touch or inhale, this mixture is caustic and will get very hot. Let it cool to 40°C.
  3. Once the oil mixture and lye-water mixture are around 40°C, combine and mix with a hand blender until trace.
  4. Add the essential oils, and mix.
  5. Pour into mould and refrigerate for 24 hours.
  6. Remove from mould and allow to cure for 3-6 weeks to harden.

Now go on and enjoy your very own home made soap!
