Birdlife Port Natal visits Umbogavango with Elena Russell at 6am.

Those joining in should meet at the security gate. Confirm attendance, meeting time and place.

Take along your Wild Card or cash for an entrance fee. Bring picnic tea and chairs.

SATURDAY, 4 FEBRUARY:

DURBAN Ramblers Hiking Club will take on a rail reserve hike in Hillcrest on Saturday, 4 February.

Call hike leader Jane or Sue on 082-820-8182.

This entails a walk along the rail reserve via St Helier Dam. There will be one, long uphill. Enjoy drinks afterwards at the Station Masters Arms. Meet at 1.45pm at the Station Masters Arms at 4 Inanda Road in Hillcrest. This 10km hike is graded two, moderate.


 

SUNDAY, 5 FEBRUARY:

On Sunday, 5 February Ramblers will explore Eston.

Call hike leader Margie Forbes on 073-437-6915.

Drive in convoy to a farm not far from Tala Game Reserve for a hike over rolling hills of indigenous bush, cane and grasslands.

Meet in time to leave promptly at 7.30am from Union Main Centre, 45 Old Main Road, Pinetown or at 7.50am at the Camperdown turn off.

Petrol sharing costs R50.

This 14km hike is graded three.

SUNDAY, 5 FEBRUARY:

Mountain Backpackers Club 14km day hike in the Midlands at Fort Nottingham. This hard climb from the village to the Fort at the top of the valley comes with excellent views from the top.

Take your own water for the whole trip.

Cost is R20 per person. Last booking is 1 February.
