WHILE break-ins and robberies have dropped, the figures remain too high warns Community Orientated Policing (COP) of the crime statistics for the Brighton Beach SAPS policing area.

“Most crimes seem to have remained the same, except for house break-ins and robberies with aggravating circumstances, which have dropped but are still far too high,” said COP chairman, Rake Jeeves.

“House break-ins and robberies are the crimes that COP targets, so I believe that COP has played a significant role in achieving this along with SAPS and Blue Security, so I thank all our volunteers who give up their free time to assist.

We are still a long way off from securing the suburb and have to step up the fight in a huge way if we are ever going to achieve the status of being ‘safe’.

The last two weeks have seen a huge crime wave hit the Bluff so the fight against crime is far from over.”

COP is a citizen patrol force which operates on the Bluff. For information, or to become a member, call 076-013-0249.
