SATURDAY, 18 JUNE: South African Writers’ Circle monthly meeting at Westville library room G4 at 11am. Guest speaker Arend Hoogenvorstl will speak on the theme ‘truly unbelievable’ and his talk entitled ‘Leslie Howard and Flight 777 – A Mystery and a Play’. A workshop will follow conducted by Ginny Porter on ‘How to crack the case: Your job as a research author’. A book auction will also be held. Non-members are welcome. Take a plate of snacks to share. THURSDAY, 26 JUNE: Women’s Friendship Guild will not meet as planned on 16 June due to the public holiday. The meeting will be held at the Assegai Hall on the corner of Brighton and Assembly roads at 9.30am. Members will hear about the work of the foundation for children with cancer, CHOC so take along toys or sweets for them. Visitors are welcome. Entrance is R5. MONDAY, 27 JUNE to FRIDAY, 1 JULY: Children in Montclair, Woodlands and Yellowwood Park are invited to join holiday Bible school at Crossroads Community of Christ Church in the Montclair recreational hall, Wood Road, from 9am to 12.30am daily. FRIDAY, 1 JULY: Christian Impact Ministries Bluff invites all youngsters to a youth festival of praise at 33 Island View Road, next to Kenmont School. Doors open at 6.30pm. There will be lucky draws and food stalls. Call Sandra on 073-028-6960.

SATURDAY, 2 JULY: Arcadia residents’ annual fete in their hall from 9am to 12.30pm. Find Arcadia opposite Marlborough Park School in Peacehaven Place, Bluff. Some tables are available for hire at R30. Go along and enjoy the delectable snacks, home-made cakes and other articles for sale while assisting the ‘golden oldies’.
