Mandy’s journey on the international stage began when she was chosen by the Association for Disabled Bowlers to participate in trials in the United Kingdom in 1995 for selection for the 1996 Para Olympics in Atlanta, USA.

“Her remarkable performance in these trials led to her representing South Africa in the Singles competition in Atlanta, where she achieved a remarkable fourth-place finish in her category.

“Mandy’s impressive bowling career continued with two more trips to the United Kingdom, where she represented South Africa in international competitions, competing in Singles, Pairs and Trips categories. Her efforts culminated in a silver medal for Trips,” Waterman said.

Between 2005 and 2015, Mandy actively participated in the South African Nationals for Disabled Bowlers, and her most standout accomplishment during these years was winning a gold medal in the Women’s Pairs section.

“In early 2019, Mandy relocated to The Bluff and joined Wentworth Bowling Club. Here, she has been warmly embraced as a formidable presence on the bowling green. Mandy has not only taken part in club competitions but has also excelled, accompanying women’s teams to inter-club competitions. Visitors to the bowling club will find Mandy’s name displayed on the honours board, where she has held the titles of Club Champion in Pairs, Trips and Fours.

“Members of the club applaud Mandy’s resilience and determination, which has led to her selection,” added Waterman.
