Riley takes on his 10th Dolphin Mile Ocean Swim

Riley also enjoys competing at school gala events and rigorously trains each morning before school.

SUCCESSFULLY completing his 10th Dolphin Mile Ocean Swim at just 12 years old, Riley Maddison Naidoo eagerly prepares to complete the Double Mile at the next Dolphin Mile.

The Grade Six learner at Brighton Beach Senior Primary was excited to finish the milestone swim and has strived to bag many swims under his belt.

Among the scores of swimming accolades he has accumulated over the years, Riley also swam the Capital K swimming event in December 2019, as well as the Midmar Mile in February 2020.

Riley said he enjoys the challenges presented by ocean swimming and urged other avid young swimmers to try open-water swimming.

Dedicated to swimming, Riley often braves the weather to swim at the pool in The Bluff at 06:00 before school, to practice.

He also enjoys competing at school gala events and will compete in the Double Mile on September 10.

Riley’s dad, Ronald Naidoo, described his son as a water baby who loves the beach and anything swimming-related.

Dolphin Mile Surf Swim Series is a unique event on the South African open-water swim scene. The guiding principle of the Dolphin Mile Surf Swim Series is the promotion of open-water ocean swimming for participants of all ages and abilities. The series caters for all categories of swimmers, from novice to elite swimmers of all ages, from 10 years to 70-plus years of age, and can form a component of a healthy lifestyle and exercise regimen.

The event allows Riley to enjoy the challenges presented by ocean swimming and experience a sense of achievement and personal accomplishment. We are proud of his achievements and that he is a shining example to his two younger brothers, who are also avid swimmers,” said Naidoo.
