Golfers get ready to tee off for Tafta

The golf day is held in aid of Tafta's Meals on Wheels service, provided to senior citizens who are housebound or can no longer cook or afford to cook for themselves.

AFTER two years of playing it safe, The Association for The Aged (Tafta) is finally ready to get back into the swing of things, as they celebrate their 65th anniversary, this year.

With the return of their fundraising events post the Covid-19 pandemic, Tafta hopes to once again gain the support of the wider community for their Corporate Golf Day in aid of their Meals on Wheels service.
The Meals on Wheels service is provided to the elderly who are housebound or who can no longer cook or afford to cook for themselves.

Chief executive officer at Tafta, Femada Shamam, said, “Tafta’s Meals on Wheels programme offers nutritious, freshly prepared and ready-to-eat meals which are conveniently delivered to older people who want to continue living in their own homes as independent members of the community, but need assistance with their meals.

“Each meal is tailored to the recommended dietary allowances for elders aged 60 and over. Proper nutrition is instrumental in promoting good physical and mental health, prevention of chronic diseases and their complications, as well as improving the management of many acute and chronic conditions.”

In support of the service, Tafta will host the Corporate Golf Day at the Mount Edgecombe Country Club on May 26, in the usual 4-ball alliance, two scores to count format. Team participation is R4 500 per team of four providing subsidisation of 75 nutritious and affordable meals delivered to the elderly while golfers network and enjoy a day of golf with friends.

The fee includes your team’s green fees, halfway meals and drinks, dinner and prize giving. Those who are not golfers, but would still like to support the cause can consider sponsoring a tee at a cost of R1 000 and still enjoy a great day of networking and marketing products.
