Organisation hosts sport and dance tournament in Wentworth

Grow looks forward to hosting other interactive events which will uplift youth in the Wentworth community.

TWO young Wentworth women, aiming to change their community under the banner of their new organisation called Grow, held a dual tournament which showcased soccer and dance skills called Running towards your Goal at the Ogle Road grounds, recently.

Aiming to inspire youth in Wentworth to push beyond their household circumstances and the environment they come from to strive to demolish social ills which plague their community, Lucasta and Teshia Fisher, the co-founders of Grow, said they were pleased that the event was well attended as they were able to address their community.

“We want to re-spark passion in youngsters and we want to see them run towards their goals. We are tired of reading about the high number of shooting and violence in our community. When we read recent stories about Wentworth men shot outside a court, as well as the story about the teenager who was brutally beaten by a young Wentworth man, we knew something had to be done. This shook us, and now we wish to change our narrative,” Lucasta said.
