Bowling tourney cancelled due to Covid scare

The snowball and Lotto draws will begin soon at Durban Wanderers Club.

The Annual Vernon Corbishley Memorial Bowls Day which was to be co-hosted by Durban Wanderers and Bluff Bowling clubs on Sunday, was cancelled as there was apparently a Covid-19 scare among bowlers from other local clubs recently.

As the tournament is a fundraiser for the Flame Lilly Retirement Village, they felt it best to cancel to avoid any further issues. Wednesday, 23 December, sees the annual Durban Wanderers Golf Classic take place at Bluff Country Club. Everyone is welcome, contact Mike Flack on 083-227-1900 to enter a 4-ball. This years fundraiser is for Neil “Bob” Jordaan, who was recently involved in a car accident.

The Friday meat raffle drawn with the winners being as follows: lamb pack – Hanno Blom, pork roast – Titch Phillips, beef roast – Richard Hendicott, rump steak – Clive Symons, turkey – Jeff Bolt, chicken – Ian Demmer. There was also an additional Christmas chicken raffle which was won by Awongiwe Somtseu. The snowball and Lotto draws will begin soon so watch this space.

The clubs Kingdom slots are also open every day and members are encouraged to come down for a meal, and a spin while you wait.
