Explore Umhlanga’s dune forest with Ramblers hikers

Hiking venues for this coming Saturday and Sunday

DURBAN Ramblers Hiking Club will explore the dune forest and lagoon area from the Umhlanga promenade on Saturday, 6 April.

Hike leader Ilona (076-912-9829) will guide walkers on this 8km easy hike along the prestigious Umhlanga promenade, through indigenous dune forest and out onto the beach to the lagoon before returning to the car park. Park at Durban View Park parking lot (Marine Drive and Durban View Road) to meet at 1.45pm.


On Sunday, 7 April, Hammarsdale’s Hill ‘n Dale in Bartlett Estate is the next area of exploration for the Ramblers.

Hike leader is Jenny. Call her on 084-952-0622 about this grade three, moderate hike of about 12kms.

This was a Saturday hike which has been adapted for Sunday hikers. It explores through the conservancy, grassland and cane fields and hikers will enjoy views far and wide in the Hammarsdale area. Meet at the Hammarsdale Road/D657 intersection towards the estate, from where hikers will drive in convoy to start the hike at 8am (from N3 take exit 43 to the left towards Hammarsdale (Mr385 Rd), first main turnoff to the right is D657 Rd). Donation R20 per person to conservancy. Meet at 7.45am.
