DURBAN Ramblers Hiking Club will undertake a hike which was cancelled in June to Summerveld and the Shongweni circuit on Saturday, 10 November.
Hike leader Jon (082-459-1522) will lead hikers on this grade two (easy) outing of about 8km.
Taking in one steep hill, and carrying a vertigo warning, this trail traverses ‘horse-country’ roads and grasslands. Hikers will enjoy drinks afterwards at the lodge. Meet at 1.45pm at Summerveld Lodge. From the M13, take exit 33, go left and take the first right into Cliffdale, then left into Hawkstone and right into Summerhill Road. Park at Summerveld Lodge, behind the pub.
On Sunday, 11 November the club will hike to Umgeni Valley Nature Reserve in Howick. Email hike leader Keith Ashton on keimarg@iuncapped.co.za about this grade two 15km hike which promises lovely views, plenty of game and birdlife. Cost is R30 per person.
