Gary’s team win Wanderers BC breakfast trips

Sunday saw the monthly breakfast trips take place with 20 sides competing.

THE annual bowls AGM took place at Wanderers Bowling Club on Saturday, after some members braved the heat for a game of tabs in.

Within the hour all voting had taken place and the meeting was completed.

Notable changes include that Felicity Finestone was voted in as women’s competition secretary, with Richard Hendicott and Thomas Simpkins retaining the positions of club bowls president and vice president respectively. Well done to them.

Sunday saw the monthly breakfast trips take place with 20 sides competing. Overall winners were Gary Moffat, Lilah and Deon on a whopping 4+31. Second place went to Thomas Simpkins and his side of Rob Philogene and Claude Newman on a 4+26. Brian Smith, Robin de Gouveia and Dave Carroll won the third prize on a count out on 4+13 from Paddy O’Brien’s side. Paddy’s team, including Rusty and Trevor won a prize though as they claimed the first session on a 2+12.

Second session went the way of Bob Hayward, Jeff Bolt and Mike Freeman on a 2+10. The sportsmen’s prize was claimed by Dave Gardner, Neville and Noreen on zero minus a good few. The R5 board prizes went the way of Rob Philogene and Bob Hayward (R50). Rob Philogene claimed the R60 meat as well, with Robin de Gouveia winning the R90 meat. Well done to all. This weekend sees the any pairs take place, so call the scribe should you want to enter a side.

Friday’s various meat pack winners were: Lamb pack – Dave Lechaurs, rolled beef – Brian Reid, pork roast – Ralph Reynecke, rump – Richard Hendicott, chicken pack – Justin Reid, chicken – Chris Fourie.

The R700 snowball was not won as Steve van Rooyen was not present. The Friday lotto has been postponed until later in the month.

The joker draw was yet another carry-over as Eric and Anne could not locate the joker. The pool is now in the region of R31,500 with only 15 cards to go.
