ON Friday morning the greens at Wentworth Bowling Club played host to the bowlers participating in Tomcat’s men’s casual bowls.

Mike Berry, Dave Carroll and Ivor Aylward made sure they were in the prizes when they accumulated a score of plus 19 to take top spot.

In second place were Peter Dink, Dave Arnold and Ron Parsonage. The weekly sportsmen’s prize went to Ken Thomas, Joe McNamara and Vic McCreanor. Jumbo Nel and Dave Carroll were the happy recipients of the raffled chickens. Rob de Gouveia made it a clean sweep on the first 60/40 board and pocketed both prizes.

Kurt Spack and Graham Bransby shared the spoils from the second board.

On Saturday morning five Wentworth bowlers took themselves off to Durban Bowling Club and Stella Park BC to take part in the first two rounds of the PNB novice singles competition. Congratulations to Phil Hill, Troy Garland, Brad Claasens, JJ Jonker and Rob Armstrong, all five of whom won their games to go through to the next round.

Wentworth is proud of them.

Family commitment has forced the greenkeeper Dave Carroll to relinquish this responsibility. Members sincerely thank Dave for the contribution he has made over the years. His dedication and devotion to the maintenance of the club’s greens is greatly appreciated by all who enjoy the pleasure of playing on them. Dave has spoilt members by giving top quality playing surfaces to ensure members play at optimum levels.
