Pensioner Billy scores personal best in first 2018 run

Sad news to hear of the passing of Queensburgh athlete Malcolm Wenlock on Boxing Day.

HARLEQUINS Harriers Athletics Club time trial results from Wednesday, 3 January.

4.7km (up run): Chris Smith 25.45, Debbie Stringer 29.42, Billy Davidson 29.56 (personal best).

Well done to Billy for a great run on a hot night.

Summer is here and the evenings are lighter but all runners are still urged to wear light clothing and reflective belts while out on the roads. See and be seen, and stay safe.

Licences for 2018 will be available by mid-January. The 2017 licences will be valid until the end of January. Hand in your completed registration forms and licence fee for 2018 at the Wednesday time trials. Thank you to those athletes who have already done so. Call Judy Conlin on 083-603-2877 to purchase a 2018 licence. The club welcomes the support. In most instances, current members can retain the same number.

The club was saddened to hear of the death of Queensburgh athlete Malcolm Wenlock on Boxing Day. Malcolm was an ex-Bluff boy who always supported Bluff events in his running years. The club’s sincere condolences go out to his wife Susan, all the family and to Queensburgh AC which has lost a long serving member of their club.

Prospective Comrades runners are urged to note that they must send their qualifying details to the Comrades Marathon office by Wednesday, 2 May.

Time trials are held every Wednesday at 5.45pm, starting at Bluff National Golf Club in Club Drive. All are welcome.
