45th Winkle-Toti-Winkle to round off club’s 90th year

The beach run and walk is open to anybody, however, the surf skiing event is limited to lifesaving members as well as those of the South African Canoe Union because of the risks involved.

WINKLESPRUIT Lifesaving Club gears up to host the 45th annual Winkle-Toti-Winkle on Saturday, 16 December, which will be the last event to end off the club’s 90th anniversary year.

All walkers, runners and surf skiers are invited to enter the iconic event where all proceeds will go towards the fundraising for next year’s SA nipper champs.

The Winkle Toti Winkle is WSLC’s biggest fundraiser of the year and promises an impressive turnout. The whole idea of the race is to see who finishes first, the paddlers or the runners.

The event features a surf ski race from Winkle Beach to Toti Beach and back, which measures 12,6km, a long course beach run from Winkle Beach to Toti Beach and back, which is also 12,6km and a beach run and walk from Winkle Beach to Warnadoone Rocks and back measuring 4,8km.

The beach run and walk is open to anybody, however, the surf skiing event is limited to lifesaving members as well as those of the South African Canoe Union because of the risks involved.

On the tourism front, the Winkle Toti Winkle sea and sand marathon is held in high tourist season it is an opportunity for the Sapphire Coast to showcase its beautiful beaches.

 

Entrance fees for the Winkle-Toti-Winkle are charged at R100 for participants aged 14 and older, and R50 for U14s. The entrance fee will include a burger and cold drink.

Registration will be at the Winklespruit Surf Lifesaving Club on Saturday, 16 December at 7am.
