Wentworth bowlers urged to support women’s veteran singles final

Any members of the community wishing to try their hand at the game of bowls are invited to attend the development bowls on a Wednesday afternoon.

DEVELOPMENT bowls played last Wednesday afternoon at Wentworth Bowling Club was well attended and many new faces were welcomed to the greens.

The winners were Eileen du Plessis and Victor McCreanor who teamed up with his son Dale.

The biscuit prize went to Johnny du Plessis, Llewelyn Scrooby and Sharon Uppick. Ruth Petzer and Honey Kitchenbrand shared the spoils from the 60/40 board. Thanks are extended to Margaret Walters who has taken over the administration of the development bowls and is competently keeping this initiative on the go.

Members are reminded of the AGM to be held at 2pm on Sunday, 12 November. All full and dual members are asked to attend to contribute to the election of the committee who will lead the way forward in 2018. Ten ends of bowls will be played before the meeting commences.

The women’s veteran singles final will be contested between Eileen du Plessis and Sharon de Kock on Thursday, 9 November at 2pm. Members are welcome to support the women in their quest for victory.

On Sunday, 12 November two finals have been posted for 9am. Both men’s and women’ trips finalists will take to the greens to do battle for honours. The men’s teams are Johnny du Plessis, Victor McCreanor and Moses Ndava, who will compete against Thys Moolman, Terry Micholson and Des McAllister. Sharon de Kock, Kathy van der Merwe and Jenny Greef will take on Cheryl Waterman, Zoë Dougall and Margaret Walters to claim a place on the honours board.
