THE men’s drawn fours was played at Wanderers Bowling Club (WBC) last weekend with Chris Klopper, Bob Hayward, Claude Newman and Brian Deats beating Robbie Carr, Neville Phillips, Dave Matthews and Dirk Roos 26-12.

Birthday Boy Arnie Harper and his side of Jeff Bolt, Eric Swanson and Robbie Spiller unfortunately lost to Lofty Cawthorne, Errol Pienaar, Peter Prenger and Tommy Simpkins 17-21 in a closely contested battle.

On Sunday the Nomads visited the WBC greens and a great afternoon of bowls ensued. Unfortunately the home side and a few fellow bowlers from Wentworth/Firwood and Hillary could not overcome the highly talented Nomads outfit. The next encounter should be highly competitive.

Friday’s various meat pack winners were: Lamb pack – Mike Flack, beef – Tommy Simpkins, pork roast – Lofty Cawthorne, rump – Brian Craig, chicken pack – Dave Lechaurs, chicken – John Thomasson.

The R500 snowball was a carry over as Chummy Crawley was not present.

Friday’s Lotto of R1,470 was also a carry over, and the joker draw was another carry-over as the syndicate of Pat, Richard, Anthony and Terrance could not locate it. The pool now stands at about R21,000.

The annual Jacky Bollaert tournament with turkeys among the main prizes will be hosted on Sunday, 10 December, so contact Lofty if you’re interested.

Thoughts and prayers are extended to those members on the recovery list, get well soon fellow Wanderers.
