Quins’ first team batsmen rally against East Coast

All Quins teams aside from the fifth and second sides have league matches next weekend, including the juniors who play the 30 over format on Sunday mornings.

THE Durban and District Cricket Union announced its decision to cancel all scheduled weekend fixtures early on Friday due to waterlogged fields and wickets.

As a result, Umbilo Harlequins Cricket Club’s second and third teams matches were not played.

However the first team played a reduced KZNCU Challenge stream one 50-over match comprising 46 overs a team. Despite the wicket surface being of poor quality, Quins mustered up a formidable tally of 174 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in 34 overs, primarily by contributions of 37 runs by Yusuf Abdulla, 26 runs by Mohammed Patel and 24 runs by Aziz Khan.

East Coast were dismissed for 86 runs in the 25th over. Mohammed Patel took five wickets for six runs in 41 deliveries and Yusuf Abdulla claimed three wickets for 20 runs in six overs of fast bowling. Quins won by 86 runs.

All Quins teams aside from the fifth and second sides have league matches this weekend, including the juniors who play the 30-over format on Sunday mornings.
