FRIDAY’S Bluff Meat Supply men’s bowls played at Wentworth Bowling Club proved successful for the drawn side comprising Gerald C Royle, Terry Micholson and John Minnaar who won on a count out with Kurt Spack, Herby Roux and Tomcat Cavanagh. The sportsmen’s prize went to Colin Nicholas, Andy Jones and Henry Welgemoed.
Gerald added to his booty by scooping the raffled pork roast. Honey Kitchenbrand chose the lucky number on the second raffle sheet and took home the substantial roast beef. Two 60/40 boards were drawn. Dave Carroll and Graham Bransby pocketed the first prizes and Fl Harper and Ken Thomas took home the second prizes.
The club celebrates the 92nd birthday of sprightly nonagenarian, Dirk Venter, its irrepressible member who continues to amuse listeners with his own collection of anecdotes and is always ready to plan his next cruise holiday with any willing volunteers. Happy birthday Dirk, keep the stories rolling.
Members mourn the loss of loyal stalwart, Craig ‘Snapon’ Herholdt who died after a short, bravely borne illness. Craig served the club as a devoted selector and was always willing to contribute his time and efforts to club activities. Condolences are extended to Vicky and the rest of Craig’s family. A celebration of Craig’s life will be held at Wentworth Bowling Club on Saturday, 16 September at 11am.
The Wentworth BC family commiserates with Mac, Ros and Colette McCourt and Gill Heath on the death of Aaron McCourt. His positive outlook and ready smile will be sorely missed by the Bluff community.
