Unlucky start for Wanderers as All Natal kicks off

Sunday saw the any pairs take place with Derek Stevens and Ron Addinall taking the spoils on a 4+26.

SATURDAY saw the start of the All Natal pairs competition in Pietermaritzburg, but unfortunately none of the sides representing Wanderers Bowling Club made the playoffs.

Unlucky for Richard Hendicott and Anthony Carr, Steve van Rooyen and Paul White, and also Terrance and Pat McGlynn.

Saturday also saw the continuation of the men’s senior singles, with Robin Grobler beating Bob Hayward 21-9 and Errol Pienaar overcoming Brian Deats 21-10.

Sunday saw the any pairs take place with Derek Stevens and Ron Addinall taking the spoils on a 4+26. Wonke and Chantal Hearnshaw claimed second place on a 4+20. First session went to giant killers Jimmy Neill and Jeff Bolt on a 13-7. Second session went to Denis Hearnshaw and Claude Newman on a 2+5. Ken and Julia claimed the sportsman’s prize.

Wednesday’s Taffy pairs at Wanderers BC saw the lotto reach a carry over of R1,183, the rump steak meat raffle was won by Julia, while Robbie Carr and Ronnie Hook grabbed the 60/40 board prizes.

First session went the way of Phil Hill and Ron Addinall. Second session was won by Chris Klopper and Ken Thomas, with Brian and Joy Smith claiming the overall prize. Wednesday sees the Lynne Wild pairs take place. Contact Ken for further details on 073-613-9733.

Friday’s various meat pack winners were: Lamb pack – bowls, beef – Matthew Unger, pork roast – Quinton, rump – sausage, chicken pack – Ralph, chicken – Porky. The R500 snowball was a carry over as Eric Breedt was not present.

Friday’s lotto of R500 was a won by Jeff Cronje. Robin Grobler was unsuccessful in locating the joker again, but did double the spot prize by guessing ODD correctly. The pool is now at about R12,500.
