Woodlands hosts but bows out of Oppenheimer pairs

IT was a busy week at Woodlands Bowling Club this week

By Linda Hewer

IT was a busy week at Woodlands Bowling Club this week, starting with the pensioners league on Tuesday, then on Wednesday it was the any pairs competition with Dave Arnold and Andy Cloete winning the second session on 2+21.

Overall winners were Debbie Nortje and Jarred Bauristhene on 4+16.

Honey snagged the money board winning both R40 and R20 and Peter Jenkins won the meat raffle. Drawn prizes went to Honey as skip and Dawn Moore as lead.

On Thursday was the casual fours breakfast with Philippe Paillard, Ron Farnham, Pierre Viviers and Brandon Hezlett winning the second session. Overall winners were Kurt and Dawn Spack, Gwen Tait and Joanne Jordaan. Ann Bonthrone grabbed the R40 with Jumbo Nel taking the dregs of R20 money board.

On Saturday the men played the interclub league, with both teams winning their games.

Sunday’s blistering heat saw the start of the Oppenheimer pairs take place, where Woodlands hosted 12 teams. Unfortunately all the Woodlands teams didn’t make it through to the next round.

A big thank you to Barbara Neill, Moira Cloete, Kim and Courtney for helping in the kitchen serving tea, sandwiches and lunch.
