Weekend fitness hikers to go boulder hopping

On Sunday, 2 April, Ramblers will take a hike into Palmiet Nature Reserve in Westville.

DURBAN Ramblers Hiking Club takes on a fitness hike to Monteseel on Saturday, 1 April.

Call hike leader Linda on 083-353-8319.

This hike will head down into the Valley of 1,000 Hills and back up again, allowing hikers to encounter some cliff edges and boulder hopping. Fitness will definitely be required.

Meet at 1.45pm at the Hacienda Pub in St Andries Street in Monteseel. A R20 donation will go towards the Monteseel Conservancy. Hikers can enjoy drinks afterwards at the Hacienda Pub. This hike is graded two (moderate) with a vertigo warning.

On Sunday, 2 April, Ramblers will take a hike into Palmiet Nature Reserve in Westville. Call hike leader Margie Forbes on 073-437-6915.

Walk through suburbia into the Palmiet Nature Reserve via the interesting and tranquil disused quarry. Hikers will get to see magnificent rock faces, beautiful deep pools and lovely birdlife. They are to meet at 7.30am at Westville Hotel/Waxy’s (124 Jan Hofmeyer Road). Meet for drinks afterwards at Waxy’s. This 15km hike is graded two to three.
