The Friday lotto was also another carry-over with R1,920 in the pool as numbers 1-2-7 were not taken.

SATURDAY saw two club competitions played at Wanderers Bowling Club, with Richard Hendicott and Wonki overcoming Peter Prenger and Clive Symons 23-11 and Shaun McAllister and Robbie Spiller beating Terrance and Patrick McGlynn 21-15 in the nominated pairs.

The any pairs competition saw Denis and Chantal Hearnshaw claim the sportsman’s prize.

Lofty and Clive Symons claimed second overall on a 4+9 and Chris Klopper and Shaun McAllister took the main prize on 4+13. Bob Hayward and Russell Shepherd shared the 60/40 board. Special thanks to Bob and Richard and their helpers who assisted while the competition secretary was away.

Wednesday’s Lynne Wild pairs saw 14 sides attend. First session went to Chris Pozyn and Chad, second session Herbie Roux and Johan Nel and overall winners were Dave Arnold and Travis. The 60/40 board went the way of Ronnie Hook with both the R40 and R20 not being enough as he claimed the meat raffle as well.

The mid-week lotto was also a carryover and now sits over R669.

Friday’s various meat pack winners were:

  • Lamb pack – Jackie Freeman,
  • beef – Ian Demmer,
  • pork roast – Wacko Jackson,
  • rump – Belinda Cousins,
  • chicken pack – Dan Paruk,
  • chicken – Porky.

The snowball sitting on R2,200 was a carry-over as Barbara Peyper was not present.

The Friday lotto was also another carry-over with R1,920 in the pool as numbers 1-2-7 were not taken.

The joker draw reached a jackpot of R19,710 and was won by bowls nationals team entry of Robin Grobler, Tommy Simpkins, Gary Moffat and Jeff Bolt. With Tommy, Gary and Jeff playing bowls in Bergville’s annual tournament, Robin accepted the challenge and unmasked the elusive Joker. Well done to them. Organisers Clive and Diane will be taking a well earned “rest” from selling tickets, but are keen to commence in the near future with a new draw, so watch the press for details. The club thanks them for their fundraising efforts.

The scribe advises all bowlers (members and visitors) that Bob Hayward will be hosting a league training session on 21 March at 9am in mufti. All are encouraged to attend. The idea is to do some evaluation exercises for front rank and back rank, and then have a game thereafter. Should you wish to assist with marking, that will also be appreciated. Call Bob on 076-403-2265.

Saturday, 25 March sees the men’s PNB singles (men/women/open and seniors) being hosted at Amanzimtoti at 1pm. Support Bob Hayward who will be representing the club in the men’s senior singles last four.

The R10,000 draw being organised between Rhumbelow Shellhole, Stella Bowling Club and Durban Wanderers Bowling Club will be hosted at the club on Friday, 31 March. The draw will be done around 7.30pm should you wish to attend.
