Surprise result in BBC men’s singles bowls

Members are reminded to check the notice board for further postings, and that it is the responsibility of the bowler to ensure they have entered all competitions correctly.

AFTER several busy weekends, normality returned to Bluff Bowling Club (BBC).

Friday night saw the traditional attendance draw and lotto draw being carried over.

The pools have swelled ever larger and members are reminded that they must be at the club on Friday evenings to win them.

Saturday heralded the opening rounds of the men’s club singles competition, where there were a few surprises in store. The stand-out performance was that of novice bowler Ryan Warren, who put in the performance of a lifetime to down reigning champion Spider Williams 21-6.

Members are reminded to check the notice board for further postings, and that it is the responsibility of the bowler to ensure they have entered all competitions correctly. Saturday also saw the women’s singles competitions being played, with results to be updated in next week’s article.

Looking ahead it is set to be a busier week at the BBC with several competitions taking place. On Thursday, 16 March the club will host the Acutts any pairs competition, while Sunday, 19 March it will be the turn of the Bluff pairs competition. These competitions are open to bowlers from across the district. For enquiries and to enter, contact Dudley on 072-226-8811. This weekend ahead also sees 13 BBC bowlers heading inland for the annual Bergville fours competition. Have a safe journey and play well.

Lastly, a reminder that Bluff Bowling Club offers hall rental with a braai area, bar facilities and secure parking. Call Phyllis on 079-898-6392.
