Club draws climb as roll overs rule

The bowls executive have decided that, as the floodlights are in need of extensive repair, the annual night bowls will be cancelled for this year.

SATURDAY’S results in the men’s open singles saw Steve van Rooyen beat Peter Prenger 21-15, Pat McGlynn beat Robbie Carr 21-13, Robbie Spiller beat Anthony Carr 21-20, Wonki beat Tommy Simpkins 21-9 and Richard Hendicott beat Lofty Cawthorne 21-20.

There were two games played in the men’s nominated pairs, which saw Steve van Rooyen and Bob Hayward beat Lofty Cawthorne and Dirk Roos 18-15, and Chris Klopper and Derek Stevens beat Robin Grobler and Jimmy Neill 29-10.

Sunday’s breakfast trips saw a turnout of 24 sides, after a few scratchings. The Manchester United side of Mike Flack, Ronnie Hook and Jeff Cronje snuck away with the sportsman’s prize. Session winners were Dix, Rena Harper and Alan Bouwer on a 2+12, and the second session went to Geoff Atkin, Rob Philogene and Andy Cloete on a 2+14.

The Dan Paruk sponsored third prize went to Lofty Cawthorne, Clive ‘Lollipop’ Symons and Robbie Carr on a 4+15. Terrance McGlynn, Paul White and Pat McGlynn claimed the second prize on a 4+21, and the overall winners were the Toti side of Julie, Barry and Amanda – well done to them. The R5 board saw Honey and Reg B claim R50 each, and the two meats went to Dave Gardner and the couple of Annie and Eric Smit.

Wednesday’s Taffy pairs sponsored by Rawsons Property Montclair, was won by Chris Pozyn and Chad Wilson, with Dave Arnold and Lofty Cawthorne claiming the first session and Clive Symons and Tommy Cloete the second session. The lotto was a carry-over and the meat draw was won by Chris Pozyn. The 60/40 board winners were Ronnie Hook (R40) and Tommy Cloete (R20). This Wednesday will be the Lynn Wild pairs, so contact Ken to enter a side on 073-613-9733.

Friday’s various meat pack winners were: Lamb pack – Wacko, beef – Dianne Swan, pork roast – Derek Rowsell, rump – Diane Swan, chicken pack – Ralph Reinecke, chicken – Justin Reid.

The snowball, sitting on R1,700, was another carry-over as Brian Craig was drawn, but not present.

The Friday lotto was also another carry-over with R800 in the pool as numbers 3-7-8 were not taken. The joker draw reached a carry-over of R12,585 as Anne and Brian could not locate the joker in the 20 odd cards that remain.
