IT was a busy week at Woodlands Bowling Club starting with the ‘any pairs’ competition on a blistering hot Wednesday.

Thanks to sponsors Spar.

Second session winners were Cora van der Westhuizen and Eileen du Plessis. Overall winners were Johan Nel and Bob Hayward. Claude Newman and Tommy Cloete snapped the R40 money board and Jumbo Nel and Bob Hayward took the dregs of R20 each.

Thursday dawned overcast and humid but turned out to be very hot when the sun decided to show again. Second session winners were Honey Kitchenbrand, Robin de Gouveia, Ann Bonthrone and Johan Nel and overall winners were Chris Pozyn, Michelle and Debbie Nortje and Chat Wilson. Geanne Mitchell and Andy Cloete grabbed the R40 money board with Dawn Spack and Michelle Nortje taking the R20 each. The meat raffle was won by Robin de Gouveia. Thanks to the greenskeeper for making the greens play so beautifully.

Fun was had as the women played their nominated pairs final on Saturday afternoon. No matter how hard Gloria Rice and Lynn Carlyle tried to get shots, Rina Harper and Linda Hewer outplayed them. The score is a good reflection on how the game went. Rina Harper and Linda Hewer won 25-5.

The men had a quiet reserved game as they played their nominated pairs. Although Bill Hewer and Jason Hewer lost the game against Harold Dix and Eric Coetzee by 22-8, they never gave up the fight.

An early reminder to all members that the club will be holding the prize giving on 25 February with each member to supply a plate of snacks to share afterwards.
