THE Family and Friends development bowls played on Wednesday at Wentworth Bowling Club was won by Terry Micholson and James Auld.

Dudley Sanders and Ron Parsonage won the biscuit prize.

Bokka van der Westhuizen and Honey Kitchenbrand shared the spoils from the 60/40 board. Members of the community are reminded that the development bowls initiative is open to anyone who wishes to try their hand at the game of bowls. Play starts at 3pm.

Friday’s Bluff Meat Supply men’s bowls saw Kurt Spack, Dave Arnold and Shaun Sutherland score a healthy plus 26 to scoop first prize. In second place was the team comprising Norman Moore, Derek Steven and Johan Nel. The sportsman’s prize went to Coy Schrauwen, Robin de Gouviea and Ivor Aylward. Robin added to his picnic basket by winning the raffled port roast and Jumbo Nel left with the beef roast in hand. Phil Hill and Robin were the winners on the first 60/40 board and Ken Thomas made it a clean sweep on the second board when he won both prizes.

This week is a busy one at the club, setting off with the Chicken Shack pairs on Wednesday morning. On Thursday morning the regular competitors in the Rawsons breakfast trips will take to the green for the seventh leg of the accumulated competition. Bowlers are reminded to get to the club earlier to enjoy their breakfast before the bowls.

On Friday the Bluff Meat Supply weekly competition will be played. Also posted for Friday morning is the women’s point single final between Sharon de Kock and Zoë Dougall.

Sunday morning heralds the first Grand Rapid Spur Big Jim pairs for 2017. Play starts at 9am.

It was good to see Oom Dirk Venter visit the club, albeit that he is braced and harnessed like a paratrooper. Take it slowly Dirk, members want you to heal properly and get back on the greens once you have fully recuperated.
