SATURDAY morning dawned overcast and a little cool and Woodlands Bowling Club’s bowlers all thought they were going to have a nice cool day to play bowls.

But no, the sun decided to come out for a blistering hot afternoon.

Tom and Andy Cloete played in the men’s nominated pairs competition against Arnie Harper and Dennis Holloway. Tom and Andy could do no wrong and as much as Arnie and Dennis had shots, they were just hit out of the head. The final score was Tom and Andy winning on a 26-8 score. On the green next to the men, the women’s drawn pairs were being played between Gloria Rice and Linda Hewer against Rina Harper and Lynn Carlyle. Gloria and Linda were battling to score and finally on the sixth end started picking up shots. However in the end, Rina and Lynn outplayed them and won with a score of 23-12. A very pleasant afternoon was had by all.

Sunday’s shirts and skirts had to be cancelled due to the inclement weather so the perch remains at R750 for next month.
