Wanderers congratulates bowls president

TAFFY’S pairs was hosted at Wanderers Bowling Club on Wednesday, 14 September with 12 teams participating.

First session went to Kurt and Dawn Spack on a 2+17, and second session to Johan Nel and Herbie Roux 2+9.

Overall prize went to Andy Cloete and William Richardson on 4+15. The 60/40 board was won by ‘Lucky’ Lofty, claiming both the prizes.

The lotto was a carry-over, and Ronnie Hook won the rump steak.

The R10,000 draw organised between Rhumbelow Shellhole, Stella Park Bowling Club and Durban Wanderers Bowling Club was drawn earlier in the month. There are only 300 tickets sold and the winning ticket number 142, was sold to fellow Wanderer, Tommy Simpkins. It is Wanderers’ turn to host the next draw before Christmas this year, so anyone interested in a R100 ticket should call Jeff on 082-808-7793 to avoid disappointment.

The next round of the Port Natal pairs was delayed on Saturday due to the rain, but it continued on Sunday to see Richard and Robin, and Steve and Graham progress into the next rounds. Well done guys.

Shaun and Wonki put up a great fight as well, but unfortunately lost their game narrowly.

Friday’s snowball of R900 was a carry-over. The various meat pack winners were: Lamb pack – Dan Paruk, beef – Dan Paruk and Robbie Philogene,

pork roast – Ralph Reinecke, rump – Brian Reid, chicken pack – Cliffy , chicken – Cliffy.

The lotto was also a carry-over of R1,180 with the winning numbers of 1-7-9.

The weekly joker draw saw another consolation winner, with Jeff Cronje claiming the R50. The potential jackpot prize is now around R3,700. This week’s draw will however be postponed due to the club’s commitments to the annual Umhlali and Kokstad tournaments.

Sunday, 18 September saw bowls president, Michael Flack celebrate his 70th birthday. Congratulations Mike from everyone at Wanderers – 1946 really was a good year.

Thoughts and prayers are also extended to those members on the recovery list, get well soon fellow Wanderers.
