Bluff BC’s PN pairs quest continues

This Thursday, the club will host the monthly Diving Bell pairs and on Sunday it will be the DJ Lashrite pairs.

BLUFF Bowling Club is proud of the four teams that made it through to the knock-out stages of the Port Natal pairs.

Play in this tournament will continue this weekend, with Spider Williams, Hilton Lassak and Robert Mhlongo, Noel Morel and Daphne Reinhardt, Sarie Bisset being in action at Stella Park on Saturday, 17 September, starting at 1.30pm.

Bridget White, Glynis Mackrory will continue their quest on Sunday, 18 September, also at Stella Park, starting 8.30am. Good bowling to all these players.

Friday night’s attendance draw was won by Cheryl and Jay won the liquor raffle. Dinner was delivered to the club and it appears to have been a popular choice, which will be repeated again.

As the year is quickly coming to an end, many club competitions have reached finals stages. On Saturday the women’s point singles final was hotly contested between Sarie Bisset and Dawn Spack, with Sarie emerging as the winner. On the men’s side, Clinton Bisset and Hilton Lassak beat Dave le Roux and Steve Baker. Other games played were the men’s fours, in which Greg Dorrofield and his team beat Eddie Human’s team.

Sunday competitions saw Robert Mhlongo and team beat Janice Rodgers and her mixed trips team. Elize Stapelberg and Rodger Scott beat Brian and Paula Osman in the nominated mixed pairs, a game that had to go to an extra end, while Kurt and Dawn Spack had a walk-over against no show Jorge Santos and Cheryl.

Due to the Port Natal pairs on Saturday, there will be no men’s competitions this weekend, but there will be a women’s trips final played on Saturday involving Dawn Spack, Patricia Buys and Kitty Schaffer against Elize Stapelberg, Lilah Nel and Jay Retief.

This Thursday, the club will host the monthly Diving Bell pairs and on Sunday it will be the DJ Lashrite pairs.

The club’s B green is looking lush and cutting should start soon, which is the final leg of the renovation. Well done to Jack Reinhardt and his team for all the hard work put into it. The building of the new braai area is progressing well, but funds are needed to complete this as soon as possible. Anyone who can assist is urged to contact Phyllis Maritz. Thanks must be extended to Greg Dorrofield and his happy gang of workers for doing this improvement to the club’s surrounds.
