LAST week saw the death of two fellow Wanderers Bowling Club members, namely Denise Lottering and Ernest Bosse, who was affectionately known as ‘Bossie’.

The club’s sincere condolences are extended to their family and loved ones.

There will be a memorial service for Denise at Durban Wanderers Club on Friday, 9 September at 1pm and all bowlers and members are encouraged to take a plate of snacks, and spend some time with Billy, Alistair and family.

Saturday, 3 September saw another successful Thumpers ‘Spring Jol’ being hosted, and all are thanked for their efforts to make this such a great event.

The men’s trips semi-final was also played, with Lofty, Errol Pienaar and Dave Faifer seeing off Kim Hawkins, Peter Prenger and Denis Hearnshaw 21-11.

The Port Natal men’s pairs commenced on Sunday, 4 September with nine pairs entering from sponsors Durban Wanderers. Three sides made it through to the next rounds namely Richard and Robin, Steve and Graham and also Shaun and Wonki. Good luck for the next rounds guys.

Friday’s snowball was a carry-over as Cliffy Naidoo was not present to collect the R700. The lotto was also a carry-over of R650.

The various meat pack winners were: Lamb pack – Laura, beef – Jackie Freeman, pork roast – Porky, rump – Honey, chicken pack – Des Demmer, chicken – Arial.

This week’s joker draw saw a consolation winner in Roy Brown winning R50. The carry-over is now R3,000. The scribe failed to mention the novice singles final which was played last weekend with eventual winner Dirk Roos having a hard-fought win against Luke van Rooyen. Congratulations.
