THE Wednesday Lynn Wild’s pairs competition at Wanderers Bowling Club saw Eric Smit and Margaret Kitchenbrand claim second session 2+13.

Overall winners were Chris Klopper and Ken Thomas after Dennis Gericke retired injured after the first session.

The board went to Clive Symons (R40) and Eric Smit (R20). The rump steak went to Henry Welgemoed and Ralph Reyneke won the wine.

Thursday saw Durban Wanderers host the annual Kingdom Slots bowls day, which attracted 22 sides. A great day was had by all, but unfortunately the home team of Arnie Harper, Jeff Bolt, Robbie Carr and Mike Flack (second overall) could not retain the floating trophy, losing by three shots overall. Overall winners were the team of Wentworth’s Terry Micholson, Brian Smith, Dave Carroll and Robin de Gouveia, with Wentworth Hotel’s representatives of Wayne Smith, Ron Addinall, Johan Nel and Margaret winning the second session. The exceptionally social side of Ayanda, Slie, Zama and Nomusa from KZN Slots grabbed the sportsman’s prize.

With all the rain about, there were unfortunately no Saturday competitions and the monthly any pairs competition which was to be run on Sunday had to be cancelled due to damp greens.

Friday’s snowball of R500 was a carry over, as possible winner Graham Funnell was not present.

The various meat pack winners were: Lamb pack – new member Martin, beef – Foxy, pork roast – ‘Porky’, rump – Eddie, chicken pack – Des Demmer, chicken – Richard Hendicott.

The lotto was a carry over with the pool now on R220. This week’s joker draw saw consolation winner Pat Ellis win R50 as he was unable to find the joker, so this results in a carry over of R2,100.

The main club will host a women’s night with Man International and Damon Beard on Friday, 26 August at 7pm, Tickets are on sale at R100 per person.

Kool Kenny, the musical maestro, returns to the main bar the same evening to entertaining the others with his popular sounds.
