LAST Wednesday’s Lyn Wild’s pairs competition was well sponsored and supported at Wanderers Bowling Club.

Organiser Ken Thomas thanks his sponsors Jack’s Tyres, Dirk’s Meat, Booth’s Bottle Store, Spur and Aroma Curries.

First session went the way of Dennis Gericke and Chris Klopper on 2+13, Woodlands visitors Gloria Rice and Linda Hewer took the second session with 2+15, and the runaway winners were another Woodlands team comprising brothers Andy and Tom Cloete with a commanding 4+27.

Eric Smit (R40) and Robbie Carr (R20) shared the 60/40 board spoils, and the raffle winners were Ken Thomas – meat pack, Rex Meyer – selfie stick and Clive Symons – beer glass. The lotto was finally won and a lucky Honey Kitchenbrand picked up R390.

The following day was a public holiday (Youth Day) and Kim and Lorinne organised a fun day which was also well supported. The format was two bowl pairs played over two by 10 end sessions. First session went to Jeff Cronje and Marion. Second session went to Mike Flack and Brian. Anne Smit and Justin Reid came second and Rob Spiller and Anja were overall winners. Sportsman’s prize went to Val McCaffrey and Kyle Hawkins.

Saturday’s men’s interclub league and the women’s Wynn Cup results were: Men’s A side managed 5-2 against Umhlanga at home, thanks to good wins by Arnie Harper and Steve Van Rooyen and their teams. The men’s B side got 4-3 against Mt Edgecombe at home with wins from Jimmy Neill and Dennis Gericke. They missed the bonus point by a single shot. The C side playing Chiltern Park away scored 3-2 with Archie Fisher getting a good win there and Errol Pienaar going down by a single point on the last end. Unfortunately the D side, as well as the women’s Wynn Cup team both lost 0-5 against Umhlali and Amanzimtoti respectively.

Sunday’s pairs skins was again well supported. First session went to Chris Klopper and Eric Swanson on +11, Phil Pieterse and Derek Stevens secured the second session with a plus 18. Steve Van Rooyen and Mike Flack finished in third place with 4+10, Jimmy Neill and Shaun McAlister came in at second place with 4+12 and overall winners were Mike and Jackie Freeman with 4+20. The sportsman’s prize went to hubby and wife Chantal and Denis Hearnshaw with a 0-32.

Friday’s snowball of R500 was not won as Hayley Mackay was not present. The various meat pack winners were: Des Demmer – lamb, Veronica – rolled beef, Kay – pork roast, Tom Simpkins – rump steak, Clive Symons – chicken pack and Dianne Swan – chicken.

Once again the lotto was a carry-over as nobody had the numbers 6-7-10 and the jackpot now stands at a whopping R1,380. Be sure to take an entry or two to be in line to pocket this bonanza.

Next weekend there is a double header finale with the men’s inter-club league being played on Saturday and Sunday. Wanderers will be having a huge braai party after the Sunday match. Just take your own meat and the club will supply the salads and side dishes. All bowlers are urged to attend this event.
