Bluff BC bids farewell to Robinsons

It seems there are a few repeats in the winners' ranks, as Elize also won the Friday night attendance draw last week, while Chrissie Smith won the meat raffle.

The 100 club draws for May and June were concluded. Winners for May were Yvonne Johnston, Elize Stapelberg and Jay Retief. Lucky winners for June were Allen Ritchie, Elize Stapelberg and June Foster.

It seems there are a few repeats in the winners’ ranks, as Elize also won the Friday night attendance draw last week, while Chrissie Smith won the meat raffle. This week’s attendance draw was not won as Sarie Bisset was not present. Micheal Schudle won the meat raffle.

Although it was a festive evening at the club, there was an element of sadness as bowlers bade farewell to loyal members Norman and Liz Robinson, who leave for the UK with their families shortly. In his years at the club, Norman has served as a very able president and never been shy in giving of his time wherever and whenever he was needed, always in the most gentlemanly way. He will also be sorely missed as a player. Liz is a great favourite with everybody and was also always willing to help where needed. She was part of the women’s playing squad for a number of years. The club wishes them every blessing in their new life. Thank you to Dudley for a good farewell speech.

Do not forget the vegetable derby which will be held at the club on 1 July.

There are a number of ‘jobs’ around the club that are filled by members who give freely of their time to ensure the smooth running of the club for everybody else. All members would do well to remember that these people are not paid for what they do, so give them thanks instead of shooting them down.
