Hikers head out west this weekend

Hike over rolling hills, through cane and across grasslands in the upper Sterkspruit Valley.

DURBAN Ramblers Hiking Club members will walk around the newly created Westville trail on Saturday, 16 April.

This is a new hike. Meet and park at 1.45pm at the Westville Country Club (1 Link Road). There is a R20 donation to the Westville Conservancy. This hike is graded one, easy.

On Sunday, 17 April members will hike to Assagay Coffee Farm.

Call hike leader Jenny Rooks on 084-952-0622. This hike takes place over rolling hills, through cane and across grasslands in the upper Sterkspruit Valley. Hikers are to meet at Union Main Centre, 45 Old Main Road, Pinetown, in time for a prompt 8am departure and drive in convoy to the hike start at Coffee Farm (number 21, D157, Cato Ridge). Take along money for coffee, cakes and whatever refreshments you’d prefer at the farm at the end of the hike. Alternatively, arrange a donation (R10 is suggested) to the farm for the use of its facilities. Petrol sharing costs R25 per person. This ±15km hike is graded three.
