Massive 3-2-1 killer victory for Chris, Bob

It was good to see Chrissie Smith at the club again, although she is still on the sick list.

BEING the first weekend of the month, Bluff Bowling Club held two of its monthly sponsored tournaments.

On Friday, 1 April, the men from around the area played in the One Way Engineering 3-2-1 killer where Albert and Hilton won the 1st session.

Ken and Gary won 2nd session and the overall winners were Chris and Bob on a massive 4 + 64. The sportsman’s prize went to Kurt and Herbie. That man Kurt was in the prizes as he won the roast beef raffle and had the most touchers. Hennie won the 50/50 board. The men enjoyed the curry served by June.

On Sunday, 3 April was the monthly Acutts any pairs. Once again Hilton was in the prizes, winning 1st session with Craig, while 2nd session was won by John and Dave. The women’s pairs team of Glynis and Phyllis were the overall winners on 4 + 24 on a count out. Hilton won the raffle and Terry had the winning number on the 50/50 board.

Friday evenings are great fun at the club and members who do not go along are missing out. The weekly attendance draw is up to R900 this week. Paula Osman had her tab drawn this last week but she was not there to collect it. The raffle was won by Phyllis. Members were served tasty curry mince rolls and next week there will be a Kate classic when Dave Richardson has volunteered to make scotch eggs and those famous date scones. The crazy games that were played raised many laughs. Well done to those who participated.

There were two club competitions played on Saturday. Phyllis and Elize played open singles in a friendly spirit. Elize emerged as the winner because Phyllis let her. The men were involved in a pairs game and Dave and Rodger were victorious over Eddie and Kurt,

The club is sad to report the sudden death of member Loraine Smith over the Easter weekend. Condolences to Chris and her family, she was just starting to establish herself at the club. Condolences to Deon Maritz on the death of his dad Piet, a past member of Bluff BC.

It was good to see Chrissie Smith at the club again, although she is still on the sick list.

On Saturday, 9 April, there is women’s drawn pairs and novice singles club competitions to be posted. The men have nominated pairs postings. Check the notice boards.

Attention is drawn to the winter starting times for Saturday tabs and competitions, being 1.30pm from 9 April.

Advance notice to members to keep open the 2 May public holiday for a morning of fun at the club.
