Colin’s team claims men’s bowls fixture on countdown

On Saturday morning the women's novice singles final was played between Ann Bonthrone and Bernie Pool. Bernie emerged the victor and is the WBC 2016 novice champion.

LAST week’s winners in Wentworth Bowling Club’s (WBC) Family and Friends development bowls competition were Geanne Mitchell, Ron Addinall and Albert van Niekerk.

The biscuits were awarded to Eileen do Plessis and Dudley Sanders.

Geanne added to her winnings by taking home the big prize on the 60/40 board with Johan Swanepoel pocketing the second prize. Development bowls is an initiative driven by Bowls South Africa and the project has proved extremely successful at WBC, with a number of new bowlers being bitten by the bug and registering as official bowlers. Members of the community who would like to try their hands at the friendly game of bowls are invited to attend this development activity each Wednesday. Play starts at 3pm. The club coaches are available every Wednesday at 1.30pm to assist new bowlers. Anyone keen to take advantage of this can call John Somerville on 083-512-4440.

Dave Carroll and Flo Harper shared the spoils on the first 60/40 board. Kurt Spack and Jumbo Nel were the recipients of the second board’s prize money.
