Daphne, Sarie eye Bluff BC jackpot

The winners were Eddie Human and Ian Hayes from Dunkeld Bowling Club in Johannesburg, who managed to knock Paul White and Terance McGlynn off the perch.

BLUFF Bowling Club’s Friday night attendance draw was won by Noel Morel who was not present to win the R600 so the carry over goes to R750.

This makes it worth going to the club on a Friday night.

On Sunday the club played the DJ Lashrite any pairs.

The jackpot was saved due to the previous winners being beaten. Overall winners, which now puts them on the perch for next month’s jackpot of R1,000, were Daphne Reinhardt and Sarie Bisset. They are the ones to beat next month. First session prize went to Ken Thomas and Derrick Sevens, while second session was won by Elize Stapelberg and Phyllis Maritz.

The braai pack was won by Brandon Davies, the chicken by Jumbo Nel and the board by Ken Thomas.

On Thursday, 21 January at 9am the Diving Bell any pairs takes place in muftis. There are still a few vacancies available so contact Gary Moffat if you would like to play. On Friday evening, 22 January at 5pm is the twilight trips which is a six-week competition. There is still one side short and if you want to play, contact Gary Moffat.

The draw for the men’s drawn trips has been done and the following players are drawn to play on Saturday, 23 January at 2pm and the winners play on Sunday at 9am: D Dorrofield, J Santos, T Wright versus E Human, R Davies, D Els. The next game is G Dorrofield, N Robinson, T Simpkin versus R Johnston, C Pozyn, W Ingle. Then D Le Roux, S Williams and K Spack take on C Bissett, S Baker, N Morel, before the last game where G Moffat, B Osman and M Schudel take on D Rowe, H Lassak and T Ratcliffe.

On Friday, 5 February is the 3-2-1 killer at 9am.

The club’s New Year’s Eve party was well advertised to all members, there was a DJ and it was well attended by non-members of the club but unfortunately only eight out of a total of about 60 members found it necessary to be there.

If this is going to be what happens to all social functions, the club will have to raise its subs and it’s almost a given that the first members to complain will be those who don’t support these social gatherings.

On to the happier part of the club bowls, the Acutts any pairs was played on Sunday at which there was a great turn-out, thanks to all the Wentworth and Wanderers players who supported the club.

The winners were Eddie Human and Ian Hayes from Dunkeld Bowling Club in Johannesburg, who managed to knock Paul White and Terance McGlynn off the perch. There is now R3,100 in the carry over. It will be interesting to see if Ian will come down for the next game on 7 February. Session prize winners were first session, George Santos and Allen Ritchie and second session went to Daphne Reinhardt and Sarie Bisset. The first board was won by Steve Baker and the second by Norman Robinson.

The whisky was won again by Kurt Spack and the dinner for two donated by Jay was won by Elise Stapelberg, whose husband is in ICU at St Augustine’s. The club wishes Doggy a speedy recovery. Friday night’s attendance draw was won by Glynis Mackrory who was not there to collect the prize so the carry over is now R640 so it is worthwhile for all club members to be there.

There are a number of club competitions listed on both the women and men’s notice boards. Club members are asked to consult the boards and not say they were not told about the competitions.

The men’s drawn trips closed on Sunday, 17 January and the playing dates are 23 and 24 January.

On Thursday, 21 January there’s a new sponsor for the any pairs competition in mufti. Bluff BC thanks Diving Bell Pub and Grill for the sponsorship.

The annual twilight trips start on Friday, 22 January.
