On Friday morning the regular group of enthusiastic bowlers took to the greens in an attempt to win the prizes in the Bluff Meats men’s bowls. The successful team this week were Terry Micholson, Shaun Sutherland and Eric Miller. Alan Ritchie, Gerrard Hoffman and Henry Welgemoed took away the second prize. The sportsman’s prize went to Jumbo Nel, Rob de Gouviea and Pieter Snyman. The 60/40 board was won by Kurt Spack with Graham Bransby taking home the second prize. The raffled beef went the way of Tomcat Cavanagh and the pork was won by Pieter Snyman.

The club proudly congratulates its ‘baby’ members who wrote their matric exams last year. Both Zoë Dougall and Storm Neethling earned bachelor passes with Zoë gaining two distinctions and Storm four distinctions. The girls proved that dedicated hard work pays.

Congratulations are also extended to club stalwarts, Tomcat and Maria Cavanagh, who celebrated 60 years of marriage on 31 December. The shining example this wonderful couple sets is based on their dedication to each other and their ability to work side by side, both in their home and in social activities. Their long serving contribution to Wentworth Bowling Club is much appreciated.

The women are reminded of the practise sessions that will be held on Thursday afternoons starting at 4.30pm. Teams have been selected and have been posted on the notice boards.
