Much merriment as mixed trips final contested

The camaraderie among the players was a joy to hear.

By Linda Hewer

THERE was good weather, good bowls, and much laughter as the Woodlands Bowling Club bowlers played the final of the mixed trips.

Norman Moore, Arthur Carlyle and Daphne Els up went against Colleen Blenner-Hassette, Allan Bower and David Lloyd.

The camaraderie among the players was a joy to hear. Colleen and her team are the 2015 winners with a score of 21-10.

On a more serious note a game of singles played between Bill Hewer and new bowler Eric Coetzee, with Bill taking the spoils 21-11.

On the social side, the women took on the men. After much teasing and laughter, the women beat the men with Neville Horner winning the last round for R2 coins.

On Wednesday the club hosts the any pairs competition with turkeys as overall prizes and a meat raffle. To enter a team, call Linda Hewer on 082-724-6575. On Thursday it’s the casual fours breakfast with a turkey as a meat raffle. To enter a team, call Arthur Carlyle on 076-588-7377.
