WENTWORTH Bowling Club’s Friday Bluff Meats men’s bowls attracted a large number of enthusiastic bowlers keen to battle it out for the weekly sponsored prizes.

Success went the way of Gerald Castor Royle, Greg McGuinness and Dave Matthews.

They were followed by Errol Pienaar, Wayne Smith and Eric Miller. Terry Micholson, Ron Parsonage and Johan Nel were declared the sportsmen for the week.

With Christmas around the corner, there was a scramble for the meat raffle tickets to win a roast to contribute to the table. Tomcat Cavanagh won the pork roast and Herbie Hoffmann bagged the beef. The first 60/40 board went the way of Gerald Castor Royle and Bill Addinall, with Kurt Spack and Marge McGuinness sharing the spoils on the second board.

Bowls at the club this week kick off with the Chicken Shack any pairs competition on Wednesday morning. Play starts at 9am. This will be followed by the development bowls sponsored by the Family and Friends Guesthouse. This innovation, designed to encourage new bowlers to test their hand at the game, starts at 3pm every Wednesday.

Thursday morning heralds the Rawsons breakfast trips. The sponsors have promised a bumper day with surprises up for grabs. Play starts at 9am but bowlers are reminded to make an early start to enjoy the hearty breakfast included in their entry fee.

The last Bluff Meats men’s bowls for this month will be played on Friday morning. Members are reminded of the annual prize giving to be held on Saturday, 28 November. This will be preceded by 10 ends of bowls and official attire is required.

On Sunday morning the ever popular Spur’s Big Jim any pairs competition will be contested. Entrants are requested to declare their intention so players on the reserve list can be informed of space.
