Unchanged committee re-elected at Woodlands BC AGM

On Thursday, 1 October the club will host the casual fours breakfast.

SATURDAY was the Woodlands Bowling Club AGM.

There were enough members to form a quorum.

The committee is unchanged with Linda Hewer as president, Gloria Rice as vice president, Lynn Carlyle as secretary and competition secretary, Bill Hewer – financials and committee members Andy Cloete, Arthur Carlyle and Norman Moore. It was decided to introduce a membership drive in order to improve club membership. The committee have agreed to reduce the club membership fees per year with immediate effect.

After the meeting there were two club competitions played. The men’s drawn pairs with Norman Moore and Andy Cloete playing against Denis Holloway and Eric Coetzee saw Norman and Andy emerge the victors. On the other rink, the mixed drawn pairs was played with Bill and Linda Hewer taking on Arthur Carlyle and Daphne Els. Arthur and Daphne won. There was also a game of social bowls played between a men’s team and a women’s team with the men’s team emerging the winners.

On Sunday it was the shirts and skirts breakfast, sponsored by Steadfast Insurance Brokers. The first overall winners were Bill Hewer and Arthur Carlyle on 4+14. Second overall winners were Kim and Loren Hawkins on 4+10. First session went to Terry Brown and Lynn Carlyle on 2+4 and second session went to Norman Moore and Gloria Rice on 2+15. Sitting on the perch were the Hearnshaws but alas they couldn’t hold the number one position. The meat raffle was won by Chris Pozyn and Chris also won the R40 money board wiith Gloria Rice taking the dregs of R20. The drawn prizes were: Skip – Dennis Hearnshaw and Dixie and lead – Ken Thomas and William Richardson.
