Members are to note that in future if a leave form is not put in at least 14 days before you are going away, you will be scratched.

AFTER a few grey weeks, Bluff Bowling Club is happy to report some good news, other than on the bowls front.

Tyron, the grandson of the club’s vice president, celebrated his 21st birthday at the club on Saturday night and it appears to have been a huge success.

On Friday night the attendance draw was won by Hilton Lassak, who wasn’t there to collect the his prize money. Rumour is that he had a date in Umhlanga Rocks.

Saturday’s competition results are as follows: In the men’s drawn fours, Dave Le Roux, Dudley Dorrofield, Steve Baker, and Michael Schudel beat Eddie Human, Chris Pozyn. Brian Osman and Allan Moor 26-17. In the men’s nominated pairs Gary Moffat and Jorge Santos beat Doggy Tonkin and Roger Scott 24-11. In the women’s points singles Ronel Morel beat Jay Retief, while in the other game, Glynis Mackrory beat Sarie Bisset. The women’s drawn trips saw Daphne Reinhardt, Lilah Nel and Paula Osman beat June Foster, Dawn Spack and Patricia Buys. The winners of this game play in the finals next Saturday.

On Sunday, three nominated mixed competitions were played and at one stage it could have been either team’s game. Final results were Clinton and Sarie Bisset beat Gary Moffat, Eddie Human and Chrissy Smith beat Janice Rodgers and Robbie Johnston and Dave Le Roux and Bridget White beat Spider Williams and Jay Retief.

On Saturday, 29 August the following competitions are to be played: Men’s drawn fours Clinton Bisset, Norman Robinson. Rob Davies and Deon Els play Robert Mhlongo, Robbie Johnston, Noel Morel and Harvey Simpkin. In the other game, Gary Moffat, Spider Williams, Doggy Tonkin and Dave Lavis play Dave Rowe, Jorge Santos, Kurt Spack and Mouse Ratcliffe.

In the mixed drawn pairs Dave Le Roux and Bridget White play Janice Rodgers and partner.

Members are to note that in future if a leave form is not put in at least 14 days before you are going away, you will be scratched.

This Friday, 28 August there will be a bring and braai. It would be nice to see some new faces on a Friday night at the club so support this club initiative.

There will be no bowls on Sunday as many club members will be supporting Wentworth Bowling Club’s any pairs competition.
